Turner Gill was the starting QB at Nebraska from 1981-1983, played in two national championship games, and was 28-2 as as starter, including 20-0 in Big 8 play.
That's why it was so surprising when I found out on the U Buffalo site that he actually graduated from the University of North Texas.
Steve Taylor was a better thrower is my guess and he transferred. Mike Rozier does say that he and Fryar threw the 83 Orange Bowl--so yeah, maybe there is an angle...
These guys never graduate during their 4-5 years of playing. He probably went back to NT several after he was at Nebraska. Like Emmitt graduating while a Cowboy (which should be an embarassment to FL after ever ESPN segment).

Seems a likely explanation for my love of Nebraska and propensity towards drafting UNT's finest.
