First Round Projections

1. Roosters- Bernard Pierce, RB Temple: The team that made history by taking a Rutgers RB #1 overall does it again shining the bright lights of the CFFL on Temple this time. Pierce is the youngest of the top backs AND he plays in the MAC.

2. Frase- Lance Dunbar, RB North Texas: The next youngest back in the top tier playing in the Sun Belt. Hopefully it works out better than Jamario Thomas.

3. Green- Kyle Padron, QB SMU: The top rated RB at this point in the draft plays at UTEP and after what Mike Price did to the Green last year I doubt Sully has the stomach to go back to El Paso anytime soon. Padron might seem like a reach at # 3, but he has the most upside of any QB available, plus June Jones owes Chief a big year at the QB spot.

4. Shamrocks- Donald Buckram, RB UTEP: Teaming Buckram with Dion Lewis makes the Shamrocks dangerous every week. Chad Spann, RB Northern Illinois is another possibility as Oman likes to keep it in the Midwest.

5. Rats- Shane Vareen, RB Cal: Hubby has historically gotten strong play out of RB Cal, and with Vareen getting the bulk of the carries this year that should hold true again.

6. D’Inc- James Cleveland, WR Hou: The D’Inc return a solid backfield and a more than serviceable QB in Gabbert, picking up the draft’s best WR is a no brainer.

7. Cowboys- LaMichael James, RB Oregon: RB Oregon has become a CFFL stalwart position, grabbing the troubled James with the 7th pick of the draft would be a steal.

8. Dixie- John Brantley, QB Florida: The Dixie celebrate their triumphant return to Florida by locking up Urban Meyer’s best QB since Alex Smith, and atoning for the Cowboys stealing Tebow in ’06.

9. Ales- Ryan Williams, RB Vat Tech: No established player has more upside or risk than Williams. At this point in the first round someone has to take the chance.

10. Juco- Dwight Dasher, QB MTSU: The poor man’s Dan Lefevour, the JuCo need a top trigger man if they want to repeat. A running QB in the Sun Belt, Dasher represents everything that is JuCo.

Service Academies are a whole different beast. Pierce is money.

I think Pierce is a great pick.
